Management of highway and city road traffic, WIM systems, and creation of digital twins of roads
Highway automated traffic control systems (ATCS)

Telematika has developed a cutting-edge, next-generation ATCS, and it is currently creating smart roads and their digital twins and the infrastructure for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs). This is all based on proprietary hardware, software, and equipment.

The ATCS uses data from cameras, transponders, and other devices to provide comprehensive access to road conditions and weather information, alerts users of road accidents and incidents, and interacts with CAVs.

This new level of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) enhances safety and comfort, increases road capacity and operational efficacy of the transportation systems, and minimizes environmental impact.

System capabilities:
  • Incident detection system powered by computer vision and AI
  • Mechanisms for determining efficient traffic management scenarios
  • Integration with a wide spectrum of road equipment, including V2X (vehicle-to-everything)

Intelligent transportation systems for metropolitan areas

Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) optimize traffic flow, manage traffic lights, and identify congested or unsafe road segments. The primary goal of these systems is to automate traffic management processes, ultimately enhancing road safety.

Real-time monitoring and management of the transportation system improve both the quality of transportation services and the environment, resulting in:

  • Up to a 17% increase in average vehicle speed
  • Up to a 19% reduction in traffic accidents
  • An 11% decrease in harmful emissions
  • An 14% reduction in areas of increased road wear

Digital road twins

Telematika develops digital twins of highways to ensure the safe operation of CAVs.

These digital twins comprise a high-precision digital map of the highway and its infrastructure, combined with a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) platform. The digital twin reflects real-time changes in road conditions from the existing automated traffic control system.

The CAVs management system is supplemented with real-time data from beyond the vehicle’s sensor range, covering traffic, weather, accidents, incidents, and other dynamic changes along the entire route. The smart road also receives data on the movement of CAVs, enabling effective coordination and management of traffic flow on the highway.

In Russia, Telematika is implementing digital twins as part of the Unmanned Logistics Corridors project, a strategic initiative of the Russian Ministry of Transport. The first CAVs utilizing the Telematika’s digital twin technology were launched in 2023 on the M-11 Neva highway.

Weigh-in-motion monitoring system (WIM)

Overweight and oversized vehicles endanger all road users and damage road surfaces and infrastructure. Statistics show that every third cargo vehicle on Russian roads is overloaded. Thus, the use of state-of-the-art digital WIM solutions is a foundation of safety on the roads.

Telematika Corporation offers a comprehensive solution that automatically monitors overweight/oversize freight vehicles without stopping or slowing them down. Artificial intelligence processes data from video cameras, in-road WIM sensors, and laser scanners to identify overweight and oversized vehicles.

The automated WIM stations use proprietary components, including a unique digital strain-measuring WIM module. Its competitive advantages include minimal impact on the road surface (as only the WIM modules are installed), the ability to determine the number of wheels per axle without additional sensors, and the capacity to measure load distribution across the entire length of each module, etc.

The WIM helps:
  • Reduce traffic accidents
  • Preserve road surfaces and infrastructure, extend the road lifespan
  • Reduce road maintenance costs and increase road fund revenue
  • Create a database for developing and implementing road maintenance strategies
